Headteacher’s Welcome

July 2018 update:

A very warm welcome to Preston Hedge’s Primary School’s website.

At Preston Hedge’s, our staff team, in partnership with our Governing Body and the Trust Board, strive to provide the very best opportunities and experiences for our children.

I am proud that we are an Outstanding school, as it recognises the hard work and commitment of our wonderful children, our talented team and our supportive parents. To ensure we continue to provide an exceptional start for our children, we measure our pupil outcomes against those achieved by Outstanding schools’ nationally.

The Summer term at any primary school is always incredibly busy and it is no different at Preston Hedge’s. Our Year 6 children have just completed their residential and are now preparing for their end of Year assembly and prom. All our teachers are now preparing end of year reports for our parents and beginning to prepare for next academic year.

We have already planned a week of Shakespeare inspired activities for term 1. This will culminate in Year 6 taking the stage in Milton Keynes to perform one of Shakespeare’s superb plays.

Last week we received our Phonics outcomes for 2018 and they were exceptional, well above what is typically achieved by Outstanding Schools nationally. A reflection of the hard work of our school community. 98% of our pupils passed the screening!

Following on from our superb achievements in Writing last year where more children at Preston Hedge’s achieved greater depth in Writing, than at any of the other 306 primary schools in the county. I am delighted to share with you that after an external moderation of our writing 44% of our pupils achieved greater depth again.

Results are the outcome, not the starting point and our mantra is “Fun, Creativity and Achievement”

More than anything I want all our children to enjoy school and feel safe and happy at Preston Hedge’s. It fills me with enormous pride when our older children say they are proud of their school. To that end one of our final jobs will be to do a pupil voice survey to reflect on how the year has been for our pupils. The results of which will be online for September.
