Headteacher’s Welcome

September 2019

A very warm welcome to Preston Hedge’s Primary School’s website.

At Preston Hedge’s, our staff team, in partnership with our Governing Body and the Trust Board strive to provide the very best opportunities and experiences for our children.

I am proud that we are an Outstanding school, as it recognises the hard work and commitment of our wonderful children, our talented team and our supportive parents.

As we start the new academic year, it is always lovely to see sixty new faces join our school. The first day of school is a very special time for the whole family and that is why we always encourage our families to come into our school in those first days and savour the moment.

September will also see the launch of our weekly Well Being sessions for all our children. These sessions really reflect what we are about at our school and that our priority is that all our children do enjoy school, have fun, are happy and feel safe and secure.

We have so many exciting experiences planned for our children this term; from Pirates in Reception to Shakespeare in Year 6. In fact, all our children will have time with a drama professional performing Shakespeare this term, with Year 5 visiting Stratford and working with the Young Shakespeare Company. Our superb Year 6’s will also be given the opportunity to perform a Shakespearean play on stage.

As ever we will have our mix of Topics which only really happen in our school! Year 4 will kick off the academic year with “An Asian Adventure”. The language they learn this term will be Mandarin linked to their studies and there will be even be time for an Asian Banquet with our families!

Finally, it is always important to reflect on how our children are feeling about school and to that end we will be having our first ever pupil and leader council this term, to reflect on our school and how we can make it better.

There is lots to look forward to and always lots of ways that we can work together to make our school better for our children, families and our staff team.

Paul Watson
