Fun, Creativity & Achievement

Headteacher’s Welcome

December 2018 update:

A very warm welcome to Preston Hedge’s Primary School’s website.

At Preston Hedge’s, our staff team, in partnership with our Governing Body and the Trust Board, strive to provide the very best opportunities and experiences for our children.

I am proud that we are an Outstanding school, as it recognises the hard work and commitment of our wonderful children, our talented team and our supportive parents.

We are now preparing for the Spring Term and we are already planning some wonderful experiences for our children! Year 1 are undertaking a topic on Fashion & Design, which will see them take to the catwalk. Year 2 are learning about the Frozen Planet and Year 4 will be looking at Conservation and Recycling.  Our whole school will take part in a Science week in March and a Health and Well Being week in Spring, so there is lots to look forward to!

To ensure we continue to provide an exceptional start for our children, we measure our pupil outcomes against those achieved by Outstanding schools’ nationally. In June we received our Phonics outcomes for 2018 and they were exceptional, in the top 4% of all schools. A real reflection of the hard work of our school community. 98% of our pupils passed the screening!

Following on from our superb achievements in Writing in 2017, where more children at Preston Hedge’s achieved greater depth in Writing, than at any of the other 306 primary schools in the county. I am delighted to share with you that after an external moderation of our writing 44% of our pupils achieved greater depth again. We also saw further improvements in our outcomes in SPAG and Reading in Year 6 in July.

Results are the outcome, not the starting point and our mantra is “Fun, Creativity and Achievement”

More than anything I want all our children to enjoy school and feel safe and happy at Preston Hedge’s. It fills me with enormous pride when our older children say they are proud of their school. To that end one of our first jobs in September will be to do a pupil voice survey to reflect on how school is for our pupils. The results of which will be online for October.
